Intro Paragraph:
On September 28, 2004, the Federal Sustainability Summit occured on the campus of George Washington University in Washington DC. The Summit was convened jointly by the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive (Council on Environmental Quality), the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Research and Development, and the Int'l. Centre for Leadership Results, in collaboration with Gettysburg College. More than 75 federal agency leaders in sustainability, and a dozen "resource" leaders from academia, science, faith, and NGO communities participated in a day-long, "shared visioning" session. The focus of the day was " Sustainable Environmental Stewardship of Resources Across Government". "Open Space Technology", a dynamic and inclusive large-group methodology that maximizes the creativity, energy and focus of a group was utilized. Participants designed sixteen one-hour sessions focused on issues, indicators, pilots, programs, and imperatives for federal government - and moved forward into action as a community. Session results, headlines, next steps, and actions are included in this site. Also included are messages from the organizers, contact data for participants, links, discussion groups, and feedback information.
