Headlines:
- Group action - can help overcome huge overlap and competition among local groups/people.
- Many Landcare - like efforts in U.S. from which we can learn (e.g., Greenscapes/work with vineyards).
- Opportunity to work with corporations on raising visibility and understanding about community - based approaches and results.
- Landcare is a natural for groups like NATaT and APA who represent local government officials and planners.
- Watersheds give geographic focus to help link community scale work to accomplish larger/more strategic outcomes.
- National identity/brand gives a way for groups to participate without giving up anything.
- Government (at al levels) has more than enough money and authorities to accomplish desired results, and Landcare may be a way for agencies to work together in mutually supportive ways (e.g., improvements in Mississippi River Basin…environmental, social and economic).
- Several foundations are very interested in supporting group action (like Landcare).
- Need to find out more about new Council for U.S. Landcare Initiative.
- Want to learn more about Landcare activities in the Mississippi River Basin.
